Connect your app to Wave

about 5 minBuildingchecked 19h agoOfficial page
The short version

Connect your Lovable app to Wave to manage your business's accounting and invoicing data. This lets your app read and update customers, invoices, products, and more directly from your Wave account.

Anyone who uses Wave for their business and wants to build a Lovable app that interacts with their Wave data needs this.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Go to 'Connectors' in your Lovable dashboard and select 'Wave'.

This is where you start the process of adding a new connection to an external service.

  2. 2

    Click 'Add connection'.

This initiates the setup for a new Wave connection.

  3. 3

Give your connection a 'Display name' that helps you identify it, like 'Wave Main Business'.

This name is for your internal use within Lovable to distinguish this connection from others.

  4. 4

Review the 'Scopes' (permissions) and deselect any your app doesn't need.

This ensures your connection only has the necessary access to your Wave data, improving security.

  5. 5

Under 'Sharing', decide who else in your workspace can use this connection, or keep it private to yourself.

This controls whether other team members can use this Wave connection in their projects.

  6. 6

Click 'Connect', then sign in to Wave if prompted and authorize the connection.

This grants Lovable permission to access your Wave account based on the scopes you selected.

Paste this into your project

Use Wave and build a dashboard that shows my businesses, customers, unpaid invoices, and recent transactions.

Words decoded

GraphQL API
A way for computer programs to ask for specific pieces of information from a service, like asking for only a customer's name instead of their entire profile.
Scopes
These are specific permissions you grant, defining what parts of your Wave account Lovable can see or change, like 'read invoices' or 'create customers'.
App + chat connector
A single connection that works both when you're building your app by chatting with Lovable and when your finished app is used by others.

Where people get stuck

  • Forgetting to grant permission for Lovable to create connections if you are on an Enterprise plan.
  • Not selecting all the necessary 'Scopes' during setup, which will prevent your app from accessing certain Wave data.
  • Expecting per-end-user Wave logins; each connection is tied to a single Wave account.
  • Relying on Wave webhooks or event notifications, as the connector does not support them.
  • Forgetting that all API requests count towards your Wave account's limits, not Lovable's.
