Connect your app to Loops

about 10 minBuildingchecked 2h agoOfficial page
The short version

Connect your Lovable app to Loops to manage contacts, send events, and send emails directly from your app. This is useful if you already use Loops for your email lists and automations.

Anyone who uses Loops for email marketing or transactional emails and wants their Lovable app to interact with their Loops account.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Sign in to Loops and go to Settings, then API.

You need to get an API key from Loops to allow Lovable to connect to your account.

  2. 2

Click 'Generate key', optionally name it (e.g., 'Lovable integration'), and then copy the key.

This key is your unique password for Lovable to access Loops, so keep it safe.

  3. 3

In Lovable, go to 'Connectors' and select 'Loops'.

This is where you initiate the connection process between Lovable and Loops.

  4. 4

Click 'Add connection', choose 'App + chat connector', and give your connection a name.

This sets up a new connection that can be used both in your project chat and in your published apps.

  5. 5

Paste the Loops API key you copied into the 'API key' field under 'Configure connection'.

This authenticates your Lovable connection with your Loops account.

  6. 6

Under 'Sharing', decide if the connection should be private to you or shared with others in your workspace, then click 'Connect'.

This controls who else in your Lovable workspace can use this Loops connection in their projects.

Paste this into your project

Connect my app to Loops. I want to create and update contacts, send events, and send transactional emails. I have my Loops API key ready.

Words decoded

Transactional email
Emails sent automatically in response to a user's action, like a purchase receipt, password reset, or signup confirmation, rather than marketing messages.
API key
A secret code that acts like a password, allowing one software application (Lovable) to securely access and use the features of another application (Loops) on your behalf.
App + chat connector
A type of connection in Lovable that can be used both when you're building your app by talking to Lovable in chat, and by the app itself once it's published.
Webhooks
A way for one app to send automatic notifications to another app when a specific event happens, like Loops telling your app when a contact updates their profile.

Where people get stuck

  • Do not use the Loops connector for standard transactional emails like signup confirmations or password resets if you don't need Loops-specific features; use Lovable's built-in email feature instead.
  • Ensure the event name you send from Lovable exactly matches the automation name in Loops, or the automation will not trigger.
  • Be aware that new contacts are subscribed to marketing emails by default in Loops unless you specifically mark them as unsubscribed when creating them.
  • Keep your Loops API key secure and never share it publicly, as it grants access to your Loops account.
  • Remember that API calls through this connector count towards your Loops team's rate limit of 10 requests per second, not Lovable's.
