Manage connectors in your workspace

about 5 minShippingchecked 3d agoOfficial page
The short version

This page explains how workspace admins control which external tools and services (called 'connectors') are available for people to use in Lovable projects and chats. It also covers who can create new connections to these tools and who can use existing connections.

Workspace admins and owners need this to manage which external tools are available and how they are used across their Lovable workspace.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Go to 'Connectors' in your Lovable dashboard, then click 'Admin settings'.

This is where you manage most settings for app and chat connectors, including who can create new connections.

  2. 2

For each 'App + chat connector' or 'App user connector', choose who can create new connections or clients: 'No one', 'Admins', or 'Editors & admins'.

This controls whether a connector is available for use and who in your workspace can set up new links to that external tool. 'No one' effectively disables it.

  3. 3

For 'Chat connectors', enable or disable individual connectors or 'Custom MCP' servers.

This determines which chat tools are available for use in Lovable chats and projects.

  4. 4

Go to 'Workspace settings', then 'Security', and then 'Privacy & security'.

This area contains additional workspace-wide switches for certain connector types.

  5. 5

Check the 'Remote MCP connectors' and 'Local desktop MCP servers' settings.

These global switches can enable or disable all chat connectors or local desktop connections for the entire workspace, overriding individual connector settings.

Paste this into your project

Hey Lovable, I'm an admin and I want to make sure my team can use the 'Google Drive' connector. Can you tell me how to check and change who can create new connections for it? Also, how do I make sure chat connectors are generally available for everyone?

Words decoded

Connector
A link or bridge that allows Lovable to connect and interact with an external tool, service, or API, like Google Drive or Slack.
Connection
A specific instance of a connector being used, often requiring you to sign in or provide an API key to link Lovable to your account in an external service.
Client
For app user connectors, this is the setup that allows individual users of your published Lovable app to connect their own accounts to an external service.
MCP server
A 'Message Control Protocol' server, which is a type of connector specifically for chat applications, allowing Lovable to communicate with chat services.

Where people get stuck

  • If your team can't find a connector, it's likely because an admin has set its 'Who can create connections and clients' setting to 'No one' or 'Admins'.
  • If chat connectors appear disabled, check the 'Remote MCP connectors' setting in 'Privacy & security', as it can disable all chat features workspace-wide.
  • Connection and client access settings are not enforced after a project is published; the live app will be accessible regardless of these settings.
  • You cannot invite people outside your workspace to use connections or clients, meaning external collaborators will lose access to projects using them.
