Verify a domain for your workspace

about 15 minBuildingchecked 22h agoOfficial page
The short version

Verify your company's email domain with Lovable by adding a special record to your domain's settings. This unlocks advanced features like single sign-on, automatic user setup, and custom app links.

Workspace admins and owners on Business or Enterprise plans need this to enable advanced security and user management features for their organization.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Go to 'Workspace settings', then 'Access', then 'Identity', and under 'Verified domains', click 'Add domain'.

This tells Lovable which domain you want to verify and starts the process.

  2. 2

Enter your company's email domain (e.g., 'yourcompany.com') into the field.

This specifies the exact domain Lovable will check for verification.

  3. 3

Copy the special 'lovable_verification=' code provided by Lovable.

This unique code is essential for Lovable to confirm your ownership of the domain.

  4. 4

Log in to your domain provider's website (like Cloudflare or GoDaddy) and find your domain's DNS settings.

You need to add a specific record to your domain's settings to prove ownership.

  5. 5

Create a new 'TXT' record in your DNS settings.

This is the type of record Lovable looks for to verify your domain.

  6. 6

Set the 'Host/Name' for the new TXT record to '@' (or leave it blank, or use your domain name, depending on your provider).

This ensures the verification record is placed at the main level of your domain.

  7. 7

Paste the 'lovable_verification=' code you copied from Lovable into the 'Value' field of the new TXT record.

This is the unique identifier Lovable will check for to confirm your domain ownership.

  8. 8

Save the new TXT record in your domain provider's settings.

Saving makes the record live, allowing Lovable to find it.

  9. 9

Wait a few minutes (up to 72 hours, but usually faster) for the change to update across the internet.

It takes time for domain changes to become visible everywhere.

  10. 10

Go back to Lovable's 'Identity' settings and click 'Verify domain'.

This tells Lovable to check for the record you just added and complete the verification.

Paste this into your project

I need to verify my company's email domain 'example.com' in Lovable. Please guide me on how to add the necessary TXT record to my domain provider's DNS settings and then complete the verification in Lovable. I am a Workspace admin on a Business plan.

Words decoded

DNS record
A small piece of information stored on the internet that tells other computers how to find your website or email. Think of it like an entry in a phone book for your domain.
TXT record
A specific type of DNS record that holds plain text information, often used for verification purposes like proving you own a domain.
SSO
Short for Single Sign-On. It means you can log in once to one service (like your company's main login system) and automatically gain access to other services (like Lovable) without needing to log in again for each one.
Automatic user provisioning
Automatically creating user accounts in Lovable for new employees or updating existing accounts based on information from your company's central user directory, so you don't have to do it manually.
SCIM
Short for System for Cross-domain Identity Management. It's a standard way for different software systems to talk to each other about user identities, making automatic user provisioning and de-provisioning easier and more reliable.
Branded app URLs
Custom web addresses for your Lovable apps that use your company's domain name (e.g., 'reports.yourcompany.com' instead of 'lovable.com/reports'), making them look more professional and integrated.
Domain provider
The company where you registered your website address (domain name) and where you manage its settings, like Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or AWS Route 53.
Host/Name
In DNS settings, this specifies the part of your domain the record applies to. '@' usually means the main domain itself, not a specific subdomain like 'www'.

Where people get stuck

  • Forgetting to save the TXT record in your domain provider's settings.
  • Entering the 'lovable_verification=' token incorrectly or adding extra characters/quotes.
  • Placing the TXT record on a subdomain (like 'www') instead of the main domain ('@').
  • Not waiting long enough for DNS changes to update before clicking 'Verify domain' in Lovable.
  • Trying to verify a domain if you are not on a Business or Enterprise plan, or if you are not a Workspace admin/owner.
