Control project access
You can control who sees and works on your projects in the Lovable editor. This is separate from who can see your finished app once it's published.
Anyone building a project who needs to decide if their work is private, shared with their team, or open for others to copy.
Do this, in order
- 1
Decide if you want your project to be seen by everyone in your Lovable workspace or only by specific people you invite.
This choice determines who can view, edit, or copy your project's code and chat history before it's published.
- 2
When creating a new project, choose 'Workspace' for team access or 'Restricted' for private access (if your plan allows).
Setting this at the start ensures your project's privacy or collaboration level is correct from day one.
- 3
For existing projects, click the 'Share' button in the top bar to change who has access.
This lets you adjust privacy or add collaborators at any point in your project's lifecycle.
- 4
If you want others to be able to copy your project, go to 'Project settings', then 'Sharing', and turn on 'Public remixing'.
This allows others to make their own version of your project, but be careful not to include sensitive information like passwords.
Paste this into your project
I want to control who can see and work on my Lovable project. How do I set it so only specific people I invite can access it, or so my whole team can collaborate?
Words decoded
- Project access
- Who can see and work on your project's code, chat, and unfinished changes inside the Lovable editor.
- Website access
- Who can visit your finished app once it's published and live on the internet.
- Remix
- To make a copy of someone else's project to use as a starting point for your own, without changing their original.
- Workspace
- Your team's shared area in Lovable where multiple projects and people can exist together.
Where people get stuck
- Confusing project access (who can edit your code) with website access (who can see your live app) – they are separate settings.
- Forgetting that workspace owners can always see and edit all projects within their workspace, even if you set a project to 'Restricted'.
- Enabling 'Public remixing' without checking your project for sensitive information like passwords or API keys, as remixing reveals your code.
- Assuming that publishing your app automatically gives everyone access to your project's code or editor.
