Groups

The short version

Groups help you organize people in your Lovable workspace into teams, making it easier to manage who can see and work on projects and published apps. Instead of adding individuals one by one, you can give access to an entire group at once.

Anyone managing a Lovable workspace on a Business or Enterprise plan will need this to efficiently control access for different teams.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Go to your Lovable workspace settings and find the 'Groups' section.

This is where you create and manage all your groups.

  2. 2

Click 'Create group', give it a name, and add the people you want to be part of this group.

This sets up your team or department as a single unit for access management.

  3. 3

Open any project or folder you want to share, click 'Share', and search for the group you just created.

This grants all members of that group access to the project or folder instantly, saving you from adding each person individually.

  4. 4

When publishing an app, choose 'Custom' audience, then select your group to control who can see the live app.

This ensures only the intended audience, like a specific internal team, can view your published app.

  5. 5

If you want, set a default design system for your group in the group's detail page within workspace settings.

This ensures all new projects created by members of that group automatically start with the correct design components and styles.

Paste this into your project

I need to set up teams in Lovable to manage project access and app visibility more easily. Can you help me create a new group called 'Marketing Team' and then share a specific project with them? Also, I want to make sure only this group can see our new 'Campaign Dashboard' app once it's published. Finally, can we set a default design system for the 'Marketing Team' group?

Words decoded

Workspace
Your main area in Lovable where all your projects and team members are organized.
Granular control
Being able to manage access and settings with a lot of detail, rather than just broad categories.
Identity provider
A service that stores and manages digital identities, like a company's system for employee logins.
SCIM provisioning
A way for your company's identity system to automatically create and manage user accounts and groups in Lovable.
Design system
A collection of reusable components, guidelines, and standards that ensure a consistent look and feel across all projects.

Where people get stuck

  • Don't forget that Groups are only available on Business and Enterprise plans.
  • Be aware that if a member belongs to multiple groups with different default design systems, they will get the workspace default, not a group-specific one.
  • Remember that SCIM-managed groups cannot be edited directly in Lovable; their membership is controlled by your identity provider.
  • When removing a group from a project or folder, members who also have individual access will still retain that access.
