EU inference

about 5 minBuildingchecked 26h agoOfficial page
The short version

This setting makes sure that all your AI requests, both while you build and in your published apps, are processed only within the European Union. This is important if your organization needs to keep data processing inside the EU for legal or policy reasons.

Anyone on an Enterprise plan who needs to ensure their AI data processing stays within the European Union due to legal, contractual, or internal policy requirements.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Go to your Workspace settings, then Security, and then Privacy & security.

This is where you'll find the option to control where your AI requests are processed.

  2. 2

In the 'Data protection' section, find 'EU inference' and turn on the switch.

This activates the feature, and you'll confirm the change in a pop-up window.

  3. 3

Wait about 20 minutes for the change to fully apply.

New AI requests will then be processed in the EU. Any requests already running will finish where they started.

Paste this into your project

Please enable EU inference for my workspace. I understand that this will keep all AI model requests within the European Union, but some features may become unavailable and credit usage will increase.

Words decoded

EU inference
This means that when Lovable uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) for your project, all the information sent to the AI and the results it gives back will be handled only by computer servers located within the European Union.
Model endpoints
These are the specific computer servers or locations where the AI models actually do their work, like processing your requests or generating responses.
Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
A legal contract that specifies how a company (like Lovable) will handle and protect personal data on behalf of another company, especially regarding privacy laws like GDPR.
AI connector
A built-in tool in Lovable that allows your apps to easily use AI features without needing complex setup.

Where people get stuck

  • Enabling EU inference means some AI features, like video generation or voice conversations, will not be available while you build or in your published apps.
  • Certain agent tools, such as web search or browser automation, will still process data outside the EU even with EU inference enabled.
  • If no EU server can handle an AI request, it will fail with an error instead of being sent to a non-EU server.
  • Changing the EU inference setting is limited to once per hour.
  • Using EU inference will consume more credits than standard processing.
