Cross-project referencing
You can tell Lovable to reuse parts of other projects in your workspace, like designs, code, or chat history. This helps you keep things consistent and avoids building the same features multiple times.
Anyone building a new feature or project who wants to use existing work from another project in the same workspace.
Do this, in order
- 1
In your project chat, type "@" and select the project you want to reference from the list.
This explicitly tells Lovable to look at that specific project for information or assets.
- 2
Alternatively, click the "+" button in the prompt box, then select "Add context" and choose "Projects" to pick the project(s) you need.
This is useful if project names are similar or if you want to see more details about a project before selecting it.
- 3
Describe what you want Lovable to reuse from the referenced project(s) in your prompt.
Lovable will then read the selected project's files, code, or chat history to understand how to apply it to your current task.
Paste this into your project
Build this new feature using the authentication setup from @MainApp and the design elements (logo, color palette) from @BrandSite.
Words decoded
- Workspace
- A collection of your projects in Lovable, like a folder for all your related work.
- Read-only
- Lovable can look at the information in the referenced project, but it cannot change or delete anything in that project.
- Implementations
- The actual way something is built or designed, including code, images, or how a feature works.
Where people get stuck
- Trying to reference a project that is not in the same workspace.
- Expecting Lovable to modify the referenced project; it can only read from it.
- Forgetting to check if cross-project sharing is disabled at the workspace or project level, which would prevent referencing.
- Attempting to reference a project you do not have permission to access, or one set to 'Restricted' without specific access.
