Collaboration

The short version

You can invite others to work with you on your Lovable projects or your entire workspace. Everyone sees changes as they happen, and you can control what each person can do.

Anyone who wants to build projects with teammates, designers, or agencies.

Do this, in order

  1. 1

Decide if you want to invite someone to a single project or your whole workspace.

Inviting to a project is for specific tasks, while inviting to a workspace gives broader access to all projects within it.

  2. 2

If inviting to a project, open the project editor and click 'Share'. Enter their email address.

This sends an invitation directly to their email, allowing them to join that specific project.

  3. 3

If inviting to a workspace, go to 'Workspace settings' then 'People'. Enter their email address.

This sends an invitation to their email, giving them access to all projects in your workspace.

  4. 4

Assign a role (Viewer, Editor, Admin, or Owner) to the person you're inviting.

Roles control what actions they can perform, like editing, publishing, or managing settings. Free plans don't have Admin roles.

  5. 5

Understand that collaborators will use credits from the project owner's or workspace's subscription.

This ensures you are aware of how shared work impacts your credit usage.

Paste this into your project

I want to invite a new team member to my Lovable project/workspace. What's the best way to do that and what permissions should I give them?

Words decoded

Workspace
A shared online space where you and your team can create and manage multiple projects together.
Draft
A private, temporary copy of a project where you can make changes without affecting the main project until you decide to apply them.
Credits
A unit used by Lovable to measure your usage of its services, like sending messages or running tasks.

Where people get stuck

  • Free plans do not have Admin roles for either projects or workspaces, limiting granular control over permissions.
  • Collaborators will use credits from the project owner's or workspace's subscription, which can lead to unexpected usage if not monitored.
  • If a project uses a connection with restricted access, only people with access to that connection can be viewers or editors in the project.
  • For granular permission control and role assignment in your workspace, a paid subscription is needed.
